Press Release Summary = We are trying to prevent the International Suicide Memorial
Wall from being built to save the lives of suicidal individuals who may visit the wall and be influenced negatively by it.


Press Release Body = THE PETITION

International suicide survivor support groups, Friends and Families of Suicide and
Parents of Suicides based out of Columbia Tennessee and Karyl Chastain Beal (owner),
are erecting a physical International Suicide Memorial Wall. Not only is this wall being built and placed completely against all recommendations and guidelines of suicidology professionals. This wall is a health hazard due to the Copycat Effect.

The American Association of Suicidology cautions that permanent markers or memorials
such as plaques or trees planted in memory of the deceased dramatize and glorify
their actions. Special pages in yearbooks or school activities dedicated to the suicide victim are also not recommended as anything that glorifies the suicide victim will contribute to other teenagers considering suicide. http://www.naspcenter.org/principals/aftersuicide.html

There is also some question as to the legalities behind the funding. These groups
may have sold many items over the years without appropriate accounting audits.

DESIRED OUTCOME

The wall not to be erected. If this is not possible, the wall should be enclosed in
a locked area, keeping vulnerable people (those with suicide ideation) safe when
there is no one available from the organization to assure safety. These organizations need to consider professional advice in future endeavors. This wall should not be publicized in any media form to prevent any possible suicide contagion. Also, a complete audit of all funds taken in and paid out by these groups since 1996. Proof of tax status (for profit, tax exempt, etc...)
